Student Laptop Responsibilities

The District issued laptop is an important learning tool and is to be used for educational purposes only.  In order to use the laptop daily, students have the following responsibilities:

  • When using the laptop, students will follow the policies of Apollo-Ridge School District, particularly the Student Handbook and the Internet Acceptable Use Policy (Board Policy 815), and abide by all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Students will treat the laptop with care by not dropping it, getting it wet, leaving it unsecured, or in a place where it may become damaged or stolen.
  • Students will not lend their laptop to anyone, including other students.  It must stay in student’s possession at all times.
  • Students will not remove District-owned programs or files from the laptop.
  • Students will ensure that their laptop is charged every evening and bring it to school charged for use during the next day at school.
  • Email (or any electronic communication) should be used only for appropriate, legitimate and responsible communication to fellow students and district staff.
  • Students must keep all assigned accounts and passwords secure and will not share them with anyone, including other students.
  • Students must not attempt to repair a laptop. If it is not working properly, students should notify their teacher.
  • Students will keep their laptop secured safely in the district issued protective carrying case to avoid potential damage to the device.
