Coronavirus School Closure & Information Overview
Beginning April 13th, Apollo-Ridge Middle School will be transitioning to from a review/enrichment packet-based education to a digital format that will allow for new instruction to be taught. All students have a school issued laptop. However, if you do not have internet access at your house, please contact the school at (724) 478-6000 ext: 2000. If no one answers, please leave a message with your name, your child's name, a good return phone number, and a brief message letting us know that you don't have internet access. We will continue to mail new packets to you and your child approximately every 2 weeks until the school closure ends. Please note that all packets and assignments are available online. On the left hand side of this page, you will see each grade level listed. Please click on the grade level you child is in to view the assignments they should complete while the school is closed.

- Packet #2: Time Span: 3/30/20 - 4/10/20 Due Date: 4/10/20

- NOTE: All packets must be turned in by June 10th to receive credit. 4th quarter and final grades will begin to be calculated on June 11th. Report cards will be prepared and the week of June 22nd.
We understand that it may be challenging to turn the packets in on time. These dates are flexible and students won't be penalized for packets being turned in late.
You can turn the completed packets in at the Middle School. We have grade level bins near the outside of the Middle School entrance where your child can drop off their completed packets any day of the week, any time during the day. Please remember that you can also drop off your packets off at our "satellite" lunch distribution locations. The locations and times are:
- 11 am to 12:30 pm at the High School
- 11 am to Noon at 2nd Street/Owens Field
- 11:15 to 11:30 am at Iselin Volunteer Fire Company
- 11:50 to 12:10 pm at Coal Run Fire Department
- 11 am to 12:30 pm at the High School
- 11 am to Noon at 2nd Street/Owens Field

Teachers will post learning activities, assignments, videos, etc. in their "Team". Students will be able to access all of the things they need to complete the assignment through Teams. As a building principal and as a parent, I can't thank the Apollo-Ridge School Community enough for the patience and understanding during these challenging and unprecedented times. The health and safety of all of our students and staff is paramount. We really are trying to provide the best possible education while adhering to the guidelines set forth by the Governor, Department of Health, and the CDC. With that said, please be sure to stress proper hygiene to your child. Below is a list of just some of the preventative measures you can reinforce with your child to help prevent possible illness:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your mouth with your elbow when you cough or sneeze.
- Wash your hands frequently using soap and water. Click here for a video on how to wash your hands properly.
- Shower daily
- Eat a healthy diet that includes both fresh fruits and vegetables
- Get at least 8 hours of restful sleep
