Dear parents/guardians:
I hope this newsletter finds you well. It is hard to believe, but we are quickly approaching the 3rd grading period. 3rd quarter report cards will be posted to the Sapphire Parent Portal on Monday, March 31, 2025 at approximately 2:30pm. Click HERE for directions on how to create your Portal Account. (Please note that you must create your own account. Unfortunately, the District is unable to create the account for you.)
The State (Pennsylvania Department of Education) recently released last year's PVAAS data for schools across the state. PVAAS is a tool the state uses to measure how much a student grew academically from year to year using PSSA or state assessment data. After analyzing the results, we found that Apollo-Ridge Middle School has a lot to be proud of relative to PVAAS. In Science, Apollo-Ridge Middle School had the 41st HIGHEST growth score in entire state of Pennsylvania placing A-RMS in the top 4% of schools in Pennsylvania. This is quite an accomplishment and is one measure of how hard our students and staff are working. According to the state, Apollo-Ridge Middle School showed Significant Evidence of growth in Science. In both Math and English/Language Arts, A-RMS had very respectable scores as well. According to the state, we showed Evidence of Growth in both Math and English/Language Arts. Every year, our ultimate goal here at A-RMS is to grow students socially, emotionally, and academically. PVAAS is just one way we are demonstrating academic growth with our students.
One of our building goals this year is to integrate career planning and awareness into our everyday core curriculum. We want to have students see how the content they are learning is relevant to careers and how their interests can help them choose a career that is interesting to them and meaningful.
