Biography:

My educational journey started shortly after I graduated from PITT and was awarded a position in the AmeriCorps as an Environmental Education Coordinator for a passive treatment system for Acid Mine Drainage (AMD).  During this time, not only did I get field work experience, but I also had the opportunity to visit schools to give presentations on these environmental issues of western Pennsylvania.  This secured my focus on my career, and I enrolled at IUP for science education.  I spent two short years at IUP getting my teaching certificates, where I had the tremendous opportunity for more field research aboard the R/V Revelle. The Revelle journeyed from Tahiti to Hawaii, coring the ocean bottom in search of data that could answer questions of past climates.  Once I graduated, I was hired mid-year in a city school district and then a year and a half later at ARMS.  This is my 17th year teaching at Apollo Ridge Middle School
