Apollo-Ridge Middle and High Schools are excited to partner with Educators Cooperative and its Connect the Work initiative as we work toward becoming a Career Connected School.
This important work is designed to help our students better understand their interests and strengths, explore a wide range of possibilities, and make meaningful connections between what they are learning in school and the opportunities available to them in the future.
As part of this initiative, students will become familiar with RIASEC, a common career language that helps students explore six broad areas of interest. RIASEC is not a test that assigns students to a career. Instead, it provides a starting point for reflection, exploration, and meaningful conversations about students' interests, strengths, and future possibilities.
Families play an important role in this process. We encourage parents and guardians to take a few minutes to read the attached letter to learn more about Career Connected Learning, RIASEC, and ways you can continue these important conversations with your child at home. The letter also includes helpful questions and resources from Connect the Work to help families get started.
As we move through the school year, we look forward to creating additional opportunities for our students to connect with employers, community organizations, colleges, and training programs and to explore the many pathways available to them after high school.
