We recently utilized the second snow day that was built into the school calendar when school was cancelled on January 16, 2025. School will now be in session on both snow make-up days (April 17 and April 22). If we have to cancel school for the remainder of the year, we will utilize Flexible Instruction Days. Flexible Instruction Days (FID) are an alternate form of instruction in place of a day otherwise canceled due to inclement weather or unforeseen emergency.
- When utilizing FID's, Middle School students and staff have a common 30 minute lunch from 11:20am-11:50am. Everyone should eat lunch during that time.
- Students can use 7th period to work on their Exact Path, Study Island, and other assignments that are due. If they need additional help/tutoring/assistance, they can send a teacher a Teams Chat. There will NOT be a specific 7th period Microsoft Team/Class/Link students need to log in to.
Period | Time |
Period 1 / Homeroom | 9:40 – 10:16 |
Period 2 | 10:19 – 10:48 |
Period 3 | 10:51 – 11:20 |
***Lunch*** | 11:20 – 11:50 |
Period 4 | 11:53 – 12:22 |
Period 5 | 12:25 – 12:54 |
Period 6 | 12:57 – 1:26 |
Period 7 (E/R) | 1:29 – 1:58 |
Period 8 | 2:01 – 2:30 |
At the beginning of the year, each parent notified the school if their child had internet access. There were only a handful of parents that notified us that their child did NOT have access to internet. Students that legitimately do NOT have internet will still need to participate meaningfully in the Flexible Instruction Day in order to be marked present. Apollo-Ridge Middle School teachers will provide a Flexible Instruction Day virtual folder and download it to every student's laptop that will include either previously recorded lessons or supplemental lessons and assignments to each student that does NOT have internet. This will ensure that instruction would be able to be provided to students regardless of their situation. Each teacher will place 5 lessons/activities in a folder on each students laptop at the beginning of the year or when we begin to get close to exhausting all of our built-in "Snow Make-up Days". The teachers will make sure that these contingency assignments will review previously taught concepts or provide downloadable video instruction of current and relevant concepts being taught at school. These contingency assignments will be completed and submitted the next day they attend school or the next time they could connect to the internet and submit them electronically to their teacher. Students that are working on the contingency assignments will have the ability to ask questions and get help when we resume school during our normal tutoring times every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00am-7:30am or they could get additional help by asking the teacher during 7th period (enrichment/remediation) daily.

Finally, as a reminder to all parents: teachers have shown and demonstrated to students how to access the Flexible Instruction Day links and reinforced what the expectations are. ALL students can easily access the Flexible Instruction Plan info on the A-RMS website and it is also accessible to ALL students on the Middle School Student Team. They always can message or chat a teacher if they have any questions or are running into issues. The teacher should get back to them relatively quickly.
